Does Turbulence along the Coronal Current Sheet Drive Ion Cyclotron Waves?

چکیده
Evidence for the presence of ion cyclotron waves, driven by turbulence, at boundaries current sheet is reported in this paper. By exploiting full potential joint observations performed Parker Solar Probe and Metis coronagraph on board Orbiter, local measurements solar wind can be linked with large-scale structures corona. The results suggest that dynamics layers generates which turn creates a sufficiently strong temperature anisotropy to make solar-wind plasma unstable anisotropy-driven instabilities such as Alfv\'en ion-cyclotron, mirror-mode, firehose instabilities. study polarization state high-frequency magnetic fluctuations reveals waves are indeed present along sheet, thus linking topology remotely imaged coronal source regions wave bursts observed situ. may allow improvement state-of-the-art models based mechanism, providing new insights into processes involved heating.

New Mechanisms of Minority Ion Cyclotron Current Drive
Minority ion cyclotron current drive is studied by solving the FokkerPlanck equation in toroidal geometry keeping the ∂/∂v‖-term in the quasilinear operator, hereby including the important effects of the finite orbit widths of the tail ions and the wave-induced spatial drift and diffusion. It has previously been found that the trapped ion current and the current carried by passing ions detrappe...

Context. Spectroscopic observations and theoretical models suggest resonant wave-particle interactions, involving high-frequency ion-cyclotron waves, as the principal mechanism for heating and accelerating ions in the open coronal holes. However, the mechanism responsible for the generation of the ion-cyclotron waves remains unclear. One possible scenario is that ion beams originating from smal...
متن کاملSpiky parallel electrostatic ion cyclotron and ion acoustic waves
One of the interesting observations from the FAST satellite is the detection of strong spiky waveforms in the parallel electric field in association with ion cyclotron oscillations in the perpendicular electric fields. We report here an analytical model of the coupled nonlinear ion cyclotron and ion-acoustic waves, which could explain the observations. Using the fluid equations for the plasma c...
متن کاملElectrostatic Ion - Cyclotron Waves in a Two - Ion Component Plasma
The excitation of electrostatic ion-cyclotron (EIC) waves is studied in a single-ended Q machine in a two-ion-component plasma (Cs+ and K+). Over a large range of relative concentrations of Cs+ and K+ ions, two modes are excited with frequencies w , z Q,,, and w2 t QK+, where the Q's are the respective cyclotron frequencies. The results are discussed in terms of a fluid theory of electrostatic ...
